Obesity is possibly the most important non communicable disease of the 21st century. It has emerged from one of the “nutritional disorders” and has been suggested by the European Association for the Study of Obesity (EASO) to be considered as a distinct entity in the International Classification of Diseases [1] with major clinical and scientific consequences [2]. In the current issue three important topics – sweet taste, sleep disturbances and microbiota transplantation are extensively discussed.
