Letter from President Ramon Pujol

Dear EFIM Associates,
One year ago I started my EFIM presidency; I think that now, crossing the equator of this mandate it is probably a good moment for reviewing the purposes I told you in our Malahide meeting.
As expected I think that the majority of short-term objectives have been achieved in a considerable proportion but the long-term ones are still pending.
Moreover, other incident issues have arisen on the way.
I have to say that all the achievements reached have been because EFIM is a real team where any member of the Executtive Committee, Administrative Council or simply associates has contributed to them. Analyzing the short-term objectives in detail I can affirm that we have attained excellent ESIM meetings either winter and summer editions, we have improved our secretary activities, we are offering methodology of research to our members, we are improving our relationship with UEMS, our efficacy based on the job of some of our working groups and we are involved in new projects in Medical Education. In addition we are developing new multinational research projects with the support of our Foundation, we are also very satisfied about the evolution of our Journal (EJIM) and the Young Internists group is showing a lot of ideas and realities. In the future we want to improve our model of Congresses and a specific team will be work on this purpose.
Personally I have learn a lot about our Federation and the way to practice our specialty all over Europe going to several meetings and Congresses, Russia, UK, Italy, Germany, Romania, Estonia, Switzerland, Denmark, Greece, Portugal.
