Organization of the Federation

The Federation is administered by:

  • The Executive Committee: President, President-Elect, Past President, Secretary General, Officer, and Treasurer. These must all be from different European countries and hold office for a period of two years (which in the case of the Secretary General and Treasurer may be renewed up to a maximum of eight years).
  • The Administrative Council: comprising two representatives from each member society as well as one Young Internist Representative
  • Subcommittees/Working Groups: set up with the approval of the Administrative Council but reporting to the Executive Committee.

Administrative Council meetings must be held at least once a year, usually in conjunction with the annual General Assembly (required under Belgian law). Funding of EFIM is through fees payable annually by member national societies, Fellows of EFIM (FEFIM), and by sponsorship from Institutional members** (Pharmaceutical and other Healthcare organizations).
