Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are the leading cause of death in the world [1], as well as in Europe and Italy [2], accounting for more than 1.8 million deaths (36% of total) every year. It has been estimated that around 13 million of new CVDs cases occur each year in Europe causing 27 million of disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) [3], and in Italy there are 44 on 10,000 people with cardiovascular disability [2].
