Thank you all for your active participation at the EFIM General Assembly that was held in conjunction with the 18th European Congress of Internal Medicine, ECIM, held in Lisbon from 29 – 31 August.
Eighty General Assembly members, Young Internists and Executive Committee members, representing 30 national societies participated in the EFIM General Assembly. Prof. Nicola Montano welcomed the participants to Lisbon and to the 18th European Congress of Internal Medicine.
EFIM would like to congratulate Prof. Xavier Corbella and Prof. Valentin Kokorin for being re-elected as Secretary General and a Treasurer to serve in EFIM Executive Committee for the next two years.

Congratulation goes to the Swedish Society of Internal Medicine for being elected to host the next winter school in Sweden in 2021 – 2023 and to the other two candidates, FADOI Italy and the Turkish Society for their excellent proposals and presentation of very attractive destinations. Furthermore we would like to welcome onboard the Dominican Republic Society of IM as an Associate member and the Hellenic Society of IM as an Ordinary Member.

We are very proud of the achievements that EFIM has made in the past year and incredibly excited about the results from the Lisbon congress. A huge congratulations goes to Prof. Luis Campos, the President of ECIM 2019 for his hard efforts in organizing a successful congress and building a scientific programme where the topics and the speakers fully met the expectations.

The recognition of the work and importance of Internal Medicine in the National Health Service was mentioned by the Minister of Health, Marta Temido as one of the highlights of the opening session of the European Congress of Internal Medicine, ECIM 2019.
