Curiosity is a core quality of healthcare professionals. When confronted with an unexpected clinical observation, for instance a remarkable symptom in a patient with an apparently unrelated disease, a curious practitioner will search the medical literature for a possible relation unknown to him or her. This habit has been good practice since the dawn of medical literature, but the reflex to apply a thorough literature search is greatly enhanced by advances in medical and non-medical web-based search engines.
