The Covid-19 pandemic has affected all aspects of our daily life and challenged our health care system in an unprecedented manner [1]. The crisis even altered the health behavior resulting in additional health threats beyond Covid-19. Many countries reported a dramatic decline in cardiovascular disease-related hospital admissions. Acute coronary syndrome (ACS) admissions decreased by up to 40% in industrialized countries [2–4]. However, these findings require further examination: control periods chosen in the studies differ and may confound the results.
