The diagnosis of giant cell arteritis (GCA), the most common vasculitis after the age of 50, relies on a body of evidence, among which temporal arteritis (TA) remains a cornerstone [1]. However, TA might reveal other conditions than GCA in 1.4% to 5.8% of cases [2–8]. Furthermore, characteristics discriminating GCA and non-GCA-related TA are scarce.
