Dear EFIM Colleagues,

Welcome to the EFIM 2021 spring newsletter.

It was a pleasure networking with all of you virtually during our congress, ECIM 2021 welcoming 1100 participants from all over the world.
At the same time, I am very proud and honoured to be taking on the role of EFIM President from Prof. Montano in this quite challenging year and I will do my best to promote further growth of EFIM in the next two years.

The internal medicine departments have been at the forefront of the war on the Covid-19 in a variety of healthcare settings. Honouring and acknowledging internal medicine around the world, is underlying the need for more close co-operation.

My hope is that learning from our past and present will lead us to a prosperous future, and that I will be your successful leader in this unique and challenging period.

We are proud of our many accomplishments EFIM has achieved in this difficult year, and we are grateful to each President and representatives of EFIM national societies, for the contribution of these successes.
I expect to see many positive changes ahead, but we are focused on remaining relevant to all our national societies members, to ensure that EFIM is meeting the evolving needs of internal medicine in Europe.

Your continued involvement is vital to the success of EFIM. I hope you will take the time to share your thoughts and ideas with us.
